Most Blinds, Shades, and Shutters are made to fit square and rectangular windows. Limiting factors may include window depth, tilt-in windows, window cranks/locks, very narrow or wide widths, and square footage.
If following the curve of the window on the inside of the opening, low profile products such as honeycomb shades or mini blinds work the best. Other products that may be considered depending on the angles and depth of the window are wood blinds, faux wood blinds, roller shades, shutters, and window shadings.
If you want a single covering, most products will work to go straight across the front of the inside of the window opening.
There are some products that work very well on patio doors and they are vertical blinds, vertical honeycomb shades, sliding panels, woven wood vertical drapery, and vertical window shadings.
Some standard window coverings such as honeycomb shades, roller shades, and window shadings also work well and will allow you to keep the bottom open for your young children or pets.
Options for mounting to french doors depend greatly on the hardware placed on the door. For doors with knobs or with adequate clearance between the handle return and the door, honeycomb shades, roller shades, shutters, and banded shades work well.
For doors with a handle return that will block function of a product, mini, wood, or faux wood products with cutouts around the handle are available.
Most products will work on windows less than 90 inches wide. For larger windows where you would like to have a single shade the best products are honeycomb shades, vertical blinds, vertical shadings, or horizontal window shadings.
You may also choose to cover the window with multiple blinds or shades to expand your options.
By far the most flexible style for specialty shapes is the honeycomb shade. Some shapes that can be ordered as honeycomb shades are arches, extended arches, rounds, and trapezoids. Other products are also available, but in a much more limited scope.
